ABOUT ARTSCONNECT - ArtsConnect is a non-profit arts organization in partnership with Springfield Township. The organization runs community events, classes and volunteer projects year-round as a way to connect the local public. With a focus on the arts, we serve to provide a higher quality of life through social connectedness and exposure to the arts.

We will be offing a new, all day, 11 week  summer art camp program with before and after care. We are now accepting applications for two lead counselors and four assistant counselors. ArtsConnect Kids Camp

1 week of training with Art Education Director, Dr. Katherine K. Smith:  5/22- 5/26/17
11 weeks of camp:  9 a.m. - 3 p.m., 5/30/17 through 8/11/17

Grades:

2-6

Camp Hours:

9:00 a..m-3:00 p.m.
Before Care:  6:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.
After Care:  3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.


Lead Counselor Hours:

8:30 am – 4:00pm

Assistant Counselor Hours:

 Morning shift 6:15 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.  Afternoon shift 11:45 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

40 children maximum, 20 kids minimum

Six Counselors will be hired:

2 Lead Counselors, $17.50 per hour
4 Assistant Counselors, $8.75 per hour

Campers will be required to pack a lunch for each day. A healthy mid-afternoon snack will be supplied.


Lead Counselor Description:

The Lead Counselor is a preservice art education student or a certified art educator.  The Lead Counselor will co-construct the curriculum with the Art Education Director to incorporate each week's theme and art projects to best motivate and integrate the camp philosophy and goals. He or she will prepare the daily curriculum and oversee the camp from check-in to check-out and the set-up to clean-up. The instructor will also be responsible for managing materials.

Assistant Counselor Description:

The Assistant Counselor will be under the direction of the Lead Instructor and will help the class as assigned. He or she will assist with set up, class instruction, lunches and cleanup. The Assistant Counselors will also oversee the before and after care of the camp.

Type of Employment: Contractor, for a term of 12 weeks

ArtsConnect Kids Camp Counselor Selection Process: Instructors must complete a camp counselor application which includes three professional references related to the program being offered. ArtsConnect will review the applications and forms submitted and will evaluate the instructors on the basis of their experience, credentials, references and background information. 

Interviews will be conducted with the camp counselors deemed qualified by ArtsConnect. Final selection of instructors shall be at the sole discretion of ArtsConnect. All instructors working with children must complete and pass a background check.
