Sewing and Quilting
ArtsConnect provides several textile and sewing classes, Adult Sewing and Quilting. Select the class that suits you best. The Adult Sewing class teaches the basics of using a sewing machine, how to measure, select a pattern and then sew simple garments.
The Adult Quilting class teaches the basics of quilting, piecing, patterning and using a machine to make a quilt.

Quilting is a great way to learn to sew. Each session will feature a different theme creating unique quilted works of art. Students are asked to bring various items based on the class project theme.
*Fabric is available for purchase on location or students may bring their own.
ArtsConnect is honored to partner with Dina Jacquemin of Sew Many Things, LLC in Wyoming. She is an accomplished quilter and seamstress. Classes are held at Sew Many Things in downtown Wyoming. You will be using state-of-the-art equipment. Sew Many Things provides an excellent sewing environment with state-of-the-art sewing machines, ironing machines, cutting stations, and much more.
Students will register with ArtsConnect and the class will be held at Sew Many Things, LLC. Classes are held on Mondays from 6:30 - 8:30 pm at Sew Many Things, 502 Wyoming Avenue, Cincinnati, 45215 (Wyoming). Sew Many Things is located in the Wyoming business district, above an eye doctor's office called, Sight.
***Sew Many Things is NOT Handicapped Accessible. Please take this into consideration before registering.
IRISH CHAIN QUILT
The topic of 2023 Sessions 5 & 6 will be connected. Session 5 will be making an Irish Chain Quilt Top and Session 6 will be learning to Quilt the Irish Chain Quilt Top made in Session 5.
Session 5 will be the making of the classic Irish Chain throw-size quilt top! You’ll be amazed at how this comes together!
Session 5 Supplies needed:
one jelly roll, or half jelly roll (or 20 different 2.5” (wof) strips)
3 yards contrasting background fabric
1.5 yds. Border fabric (optional)
*fabric may also be purchased at the studio
Continue the fun in Session 6 where we will finish the Irish Chain quilt by learning different machine quilting techniques, and binding your quilt so your masterpiece will be complete!
Session 6 Supplies needed:
Batting to fit your quilt
Backing fabric
*supplies may also be purchased at the studio
It is not required to take Session 6, although if you want to learn how to quilt the Irish Chain top then it is recommended. It is required to take Session 5 Quilt Top in order to take Session 6. You will be quilting the Irish Chain Quilt Top made in Session 5.

ADULT SEWING
Ages, 14 - adult
Tuesdays, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
$125 non-member / $115 member
Learn how to use a sewing machine and hand stitch. This class will teach practical sewing techniques to help you make simple clothing designs, fix and alter clothes and create patterns. Sewing equipment and some fabric included. You may want to purchase your own fabric and patterns.
Classes are held on Tuesdays from 6:30 - 8:30 pm at ArtsConnect Arts Center, 9158 Winton Road, the building behind the Springfield Township Fire Station.
No class November 21, week of Thanksgiving.

Class Cancellations & Weather Closings
A minimum of four students must be enrolled for the session prior to the stated deadline for the class to take place (maximum 12 students). The Springfield Township Senior and Community Arts Center follows Finneytown School District inclement weather closings. To verify closings, call 513-522-2108.
Due to costs incurred in planning for art classes, full refunds will only be issued when the Arts Council cancels the class. Class cancellations made within 10 business days of the class start date are eligible for a refund, minus a $5 administration fee per student. Refunds will be made by check, not to a credit card. To notify us of a cancellation, please send an email to artsinfo@springfieldtwp.org.
