Visual Arts Workshops
Visual Arts Workshops are short classes that give the participant a taste of a specific visual arts skill. Workshops are project-specific where the students come away with a finished product. Most workshops are one-day classes on Saturdays ranging between 2 - 4 hours long. Some workshops might be more than one class and offered during the week. Make sure to check the day your workshop is offered. Workshops change throughout the year so check the website and calendar often to see what new workshops are being offered.

Monthly workshops with Greg Albert that focus on specific topics to improve your drawings and paintings. Drawing and Painting techniques are explained in depth. Register for one or all! Supplies will be provided.

STAINED GLASS WORKSHOPS
STAINED GLASS HEART SUNCATCHER

Make lasting memories during our Couple's Heart-shaped Stained Glass workshop. Couples will work together to make a beautiful heart-shaped stained glass hanging. The class fee of $80 is for 2 people. All supplies included.

LAMPWORKING - GLASS BEAD TORCHING

Experience the technique of Lampworking, "The Art of melting glass rods in the flame of a torch.' In this beginner class, learn to safely operate a torch and manipulate colorful glass rods in a flame to make doughnut-shaped beads. Experiment with different shapes and decorations. All supplies included.

ENAMELED 3D SHAPES
Ages 14 and up

Enameling is the technique of fusing powdered glass to metal by heating them together in a kiln at 1450 F. Students will learn the entire process of cleaning and preparing the copper, applying the enamel, placing it in the kiln and repeating these processes until you have your completed piece.
We offer several enameling workshops. Select one or try them both. In the Enameled Threads class, you will make a wearable pin using a copper base and apply colored glass threads. Want to work 3-dimensionally, then try our 3D Enameled Shapes class. Students can select from a seahorse, butterfly or buckeye leaf stencil and then cut out the shape. All supplies included.

DESIGNS FOR THE HOME
ALCOHOL INK COASTERS AND TUMBLERS
Ages 14 and up
Fridays, 6:00 p.m. - 8 p.m.
Alcohol ink workshops will feature vibrant floral designs on tile coasters or a metal Tumbler. Learn to use alcohol ink dyes along with rubbing alcohol to make impressive gifts and home decor. In the Tumbler class, each student gets a metal tumbler to decorate. In the coasters class, you will make 4 ceramic tiles with cork backing.

BOOKBINDING BASICS

Learn the basics of Bookbinding in this 2-hour workshop. Students will learn four basic structures and gain the knowledge to start making their own books: accordion folding, two versions of one-sheet wonders, and pamphlet stitch. All supplies included.

INTRO TO SKETCH JOURNALING

Learn to create your own artist’s sketch journal to celebrate the moments of your life, capture memories from vacations, record thoughts and impressions of the world around you with award-winning watercolor artist Gary Brooks.
This two-hour exploration will introduce you to types of sketchbooks, materials you can use: pens, pencils, inks, markers, watercolor, etc., to create a personal record of your life through words and art.
Several examples of sketch journals will be shown, design ideas presented, and materials demonstrated.
Materials included are a small sketchbook to keep and the use of drawing and painting materials.

Class Cancellations & Weather Closings
A minimum of six students must be enrolled for the session prior to the stated deadline for the class to take place (maximum 12 students). The ArtsConnect Springfield Township Community Arts Center follows Finneytown School District inclement weather closings. To verify closings, call 513-522-2108.
Due to costs incurred in planning for art classes, full refunds will only be issued when the Arts Council cancels the class. Class cancellations made within 10 business days of the class start date are eligible for a refund, minus a $5 administration fee per student. Refunds will be made by check, not to a credit card. To notify us of a cancellation, please send an email to artsinfo@springfieldtwp.org.
