Try one or both of these new and exciting handbuliding classes. Each class introduces students to a different material, Metal Clay or Ceramic Clay. Students will make a variety of different pieces of jewelry in both of these classes. They will use texturing tools, slab roller and pottery tools to decorate their clay pieces. Each jewelry piece will be fired and finished using glazes or sealing materials. All supplies are included.
The Metal Clay class uses an amazing new type of clay that contains metal flakes and when fired turns into metal. In this class, you will try different forms of metal clay to make silver, copper or bronze jewelry.
The Ceramic Clay class uses the same clay that is used in our handbuilding and wheel classes. This clay is white and will be glazed using colored glazes.
Both classes are appropriate for beginners as well as experienced potters. Projects will be individualized to fit the student's level of pottery knowledge. Students will create from a variety of types of jewelry, pendants, earrings, rings, etc.
Classes will be held on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. at ArtsConnect Springfield Community Arts Center, 9158 Winton Rd, Building A, behind the fire station.
