Art Center Under Renovations - Grand Re-Opening January 5 & 6
ArtsConnect will hold a Grand Re-Opening Friday, January 5, beginning with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 a.m.. Activities will take place January 5th and 6th.
ArtsConnect was operating classes from Brent Elementary school since the art center was damaged by flood waters last Christmas. We have been very lucky to have Brent serve as our home for so long and we knew when we moved in, the building was scheduled for demolition this summer. It was our hopes that our center would be complete by June.
MSA designed the construction plans for bid proposals which went out in May. There was a significant delay in this processes due to an important decision to replace - opposed to repair - the old sprinkler system. Once all of the details were determined on the fire system, the contractor Schurdde and Zimmerman was announced as the contractor for the project. They are now working hard to complete the extensive renovations. Unfortunately, the fire suppression installation has a long wait and is not expected to begin until October. It is with this understanding that ArtsConnect is not planning to be open until November, at the earliest.
Camp will resume at The Grove Event Center.
Private music classes will be held at Fleming Road United Church of Christ
Senior Open studios are taking place at St Vivian Church, the Wyoming Civic Center and at the Powel Crosley Jr. YMCA.
All events will continue as scheduled.
The ArtLocal Art Show will be held at The Grove instead of the art center.
We will be planning a large Grand Opening once all details are confirmed.
