Call to schedule a 30-minute private lesson time between 2:00 - 7:00 p.m. 


Private lessons begin with a 30-minute consultation to determine the participant's level and goals.  Together, the participant and the teacher will identify an agenda, a practice commitment and schedule, choice of music style, and the type of support needed for the year. Private Piano Lessons are offered in 8-week sessions. There will be a winter and spring recital scheduled to highlight our music students' accomplishments. Lessons are $33 per lesson for an 8-week session.

*Session 5 & 6 lessons are held at a temporary location of  Fleming Road United Church of Christ,  691 Fleming Rd, Finneytown.  

2024 Lessons will be back at ArtsConnect Springfield Township Arts Center, 9158 Winton Rd, Building A, behind the fire station. Call Lisa Zupon 513-728-4266 to select your private 30-minute lesson time.


Session 6 is only 6 Weeks. No class week of Thanksgiving.

Hello!
We are pleased you are joining us for piano lessons at ArtsConnect!

When you begin your lessons, we will evaluate your musical skills before starting lessons. Together, we will determine whether you will study with Dr. John or Ms. Suzanne. A program tailored to your skill level will be developed for you with materials that we can offer to you. We will consult with each other on your progress and provide evaluations throughout the process.

If you decide after a 8-week session to continue lessons then we can include you in:

  • Bi-annual recitals and
  • MTNA festival auditions opportunity to earn
    an award for your progress!
  • Other opportunities may arise for you as well.

Suzanne and John Carpenter

Ms. Suzanne is a highly trained and experienced teacher. She has studied at Oberlin College and Conservatory while attending grade school. She attended school at Interlochen Arts Academy. She has her Bachelor of Fine Arts in music (and art, drama, dance and creative writing)  from the University of Connecticut and Masters studies at Antioch in Special Education. She taught at East Manhattan School for Bright and Gifted in New York, taught in Mt. Healthy schools preK-12, and has run 3 piano studios.


Dr. John is an international competition winning concert pianist who teaches along with his spouse Ms. Suzanne at ArtsConnect.  He is a specialist in piano technique, and has the Artist diploma from Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. Master of Music from Manhattan School of Music and Bachelor of Music from Manhattan school of Music. He has recently played in the Los Angeles area with the combined orchestra of Olympia Youth and Cal State Los Angeles and at the National Association of Music Merchants multiple piano  concerts and with the Dayton philharmonic. In addition he has played solo in three concerts at Carnegie Hall in New York, most recently in 2018 and many others. In 2018 Dr. John won first place in the BMTG international piano competition in the advanced solo division, and in 2023 Second Prize in the Advanced Division of the Charleston International Piano Competition, World Music. He was also  He is former Chairperson of WAIF Radio, where he still serves as Trustee, and Director of Music/Keyboardist at Hartzell United Methodist Church in Blue Ash and has a Radio show on WAIF 88.3 F.M. in Cincinnati, “The John Carpenter Classical Music and Variety" program, Mondays from 6-8 pm.   1. Class Cancellations & Weather Closings

    Don't wait to register! Classes may be cancelled to low registration or fill up before you have a chance to register. 

    Class cancellations due to weather will be made one hour prior to class start times and will be listed on the homepage of the ArtsConnect website at www.theartsconnect.us. To verify any weather closings, call 513-522-2108. In most instances, classes cancelled by weather will be made up by adding an additional class to the end of the session.

    Due to costs incurred planning for art classes, full refunds will only be issued when the ArtsConnect cancels the class. Class cancellations made within 10 business days of the class start date are eligible for a refund, minus a $5 administration fee per student or transfer to a new session.  View the full class refund policy here.
