Fundamentals of Picture Framing

Ages 14 and older, Monday, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

$125 for non-members
$112.50 for members 


Fundamentals of Picture Framing will introduce you to the world of custom framing. This class will teach you how to pick the perfect frame. Learn how to measure and cut mats, glass, and moulding.  You will frame something 11"x14" or smaller in this introductory class. Participants are asked to bring a picture or artwork to frame.

Supplies included are practice materials and standard grade matt board, moulding, and glass to make a frame no larger than 11"x14".   

Students may purchase extra materials from the instructor to frame larger work or pick from custom styles of board and moulding. The instructor will discuss this option during class.

Classes will be held at ArtsConnect Springfield Township Arts Center, 9158 Winton Rd, Building A, behind the fire station.

Instructor: 

Willie Evans is an artist and framer and the owner of Art Expectations, Ltd., custom wall art designs for commercial and residential clients.  Mr. Evans has been involved in framing since the middle 1970s.  He is a native of Crawfordville, Georgia but spent most of his life in Cincinnati, Ohio.  He learned framing design and techniques through several framing schools affiliated with the Professional Picture Framers Association.  Mr. Evans completed his advanced training in 1986.  Through the 1980s, he operated several framing shops.  He has since offered framing as a mobile service.  Mr. Evans is known for his work with many local galleries.  Many clients of his comment on his patience, his precision, and his keen eye for color and moulding choices.

  1. Class Cancellations & Weather Closings

    Don't wait to register! Classes may be cancelled to low registration or fill up before you have a chance to register. 

    Class cancellations due to weather will be made one hour prior to class start times and will be listed on the homepage of the ArtsConnect website at www.theartsconnect.us. To verify any weather closings, call 513-522-2108. In most instances, classes cancelled by weather will be made up by adding an additional class to the end of the session.

    Due to costs incurred planning for art classes, full refunds will only be issued when the ArtsConnect cancels the class. Class cancellations made within 10 business days of the class start date are eligible for a refund, minus a $5 administration fee per student or transfer to a new session.  View the full class refund policy here.
