ArtsConnect offers pottery wheel classes for all levels: Intro to Intermediate.  Start with the Intro and progressively get better!

Intro to Wheel, teaches participants the basics of throwing clay on a pottery wheel.  Students will learn important pottery studio rules and procedures used in all of our pottery classes.  Intro to Wheel class is mandatory for those wanting to buy a pottery studio pass to use the studio during open times.  Check out more information about pottery studio passes here:   https://www.theartsconnect.us/222/Memberships

The next step up from the Intro Wheel class is Intermediate Wheel. This class will help students refine their centering skills, learn to throw larger items and work on attachments such as handles and lids. Materials Included: 25 lb clay, glaze, firing and use of tools. Intermediate to Wheel is offered twice a week, Monday mornings and Thursday evenings

The cost of each pottery class includes all supplies. Supplies provided are:  25 lb white clay, glazes, all the firing needed, and the use of our clay tools.  More clay is available for purchase if necessary, although we usually find 25 lbs is enough for one session.

Classes will occur in the Pottery Studio at ArtsConnect Springfield Township Community Art Center, 9158 Winton Rd, Building A, behind the fire station.

Jen Watson:

Jen is an accomplished Potter and owner of Bowl and Bud, LLC.  Bud and Bowl is a small batch pottery company based out of Cincinnati, and we specialize in making boldly patterned stoneware ceramics for your kitchen, garden, and home!

Jen received her MFA from University of Cincinnati DAAP in 2018. She has 15 ys of experience in wheel throwing and has been teaching ceramics since 2015.  She has been working at Rookwood Pottery in Cincinnati since 2021.

  1. Class Cancellations & Weather Closings

    Don't wait to register! Classes may be cancelled to low registration or fill up before you have a chance to register. 

    Class cancellations due to weather will be made one hour prior to class start times and will be listed on the homepage of the ArtsConnect website at www.theartsconnect.us. To verify any weather closings, call 513-522-2108. In most instances, classes cancelled by weather will be made up by adding an additional class to the end of the session.

    Due to costs incurred planning for art classes, full refunds will only be issued when the ArtsConnect cancels the class. Class cancellations made within 10 business days of the class start date are eligible for a refund, minus a $5 administration fee per student or transfer to a new session.  View the full class refund policy here.
