Jewelry Basics

Ages 15 and up

Tuesdays, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
$165 for non-members for 6-weeks

Learn how to make your own jewelry. Be proud to wear it, or give it as a gift. Students will design and create their own unique jewelry pieces. They will learn how to cut, form and texturize brass, silver, and copper metal. Pieces will be joined with rivets and soldering.  Students will also learn how to inlay crushed stone. This class is suited for those with or without experience.  All supplies included.

The instructor is Karen Gasik, who has taught for over 30 years.  Most recently at Wyoming High. She will go through step-by-step instructions teaching the entire jewelry-making process.

Metalsmithing - Cuff Bracelet

Brian Taylor of IMGBAT Jewelry will teach you how to make a stamped and/or hammered cuff bracelet using your choice of Copper, or Brass. Learn about forming, stamping, annealing, firescale, patina and protecting your jewelry. All supplies included.

When registering, select the type of metal you want to use: brass, copper or silver. The cost of silver is much more than brass and copper. The fee for the silver class is naturally more expensive. Choose the one you would like to do.

The class will be held in our new metals studio at the Annex building, behind the ArtsConnect building. You will be using the blacksmithing tools and anvils hammering, stamping and annealing.

Class Cancellations & Weather Closings

Class cancellations due to weather will be made one hour prior to class start times and will be listed on the homepage of the ArtsConnect website at www.theartsconnect.us. To verify any weather closings, call 513-522-2108. In most instances, classes cancelled by weather will be made up by adding an additional class to the end of the session.

Due to costs incurred planning for art classes, full refunds will only be issued when the ArtsConnect cancels the class. Class cancellations made within 10 business days of the class start date are eligible for a refund, minus a $5 administration fee per student or transfer to a new session.
